The special tubular shaft can be rotated in 45-degree steps in 8 different locking positions, for a range of cutting angles. The shaft may only be released in 1 of the 8 positions, preventing accidental release during surgery. The shaft comes apart in 4 different pieces for easy cleaning and sterilization.
